Bellafill's tiny poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres are suspended within a base of smooth collagen gel, once injected, the collagen gel immediately reduces the look of smile lines. Over time your body uses the microspheres in Bellafill to create a "scaffold" onto which your own natural collagen can develop. This collagen forms a foundation that adds volume to wrinkles, reducing their appearance - and giving you natural-looking results that feel soft and smooth for up to 5 years.
Is it really permanent?
The collagen portion of the filler, which is temporary, fades 2-3 months after injections. During this time the PMMA portion of the filler has set the "scaffolding" and your body is already producing new tissue, collagen and even blood vessels. FDA approves the results at trials to 5 years but results have shown to last well beyond this in Europe.
What can I expect?
Given the longevity of this filler, a skin patch test injection to the forearm is required 1 week prior to the injection to monitor for allergy.
Unlike other fillers, Bellafill is a treatment filler; requiring several syringes to achieve a final result that lasts for years.
Like Radiesse, Bellafill should not be injected around the eyes nor mouth/lips. It is designed to replace volume loss typical with aging.
